Bullish On Amtrak Here
Amtrak passenger
train service could return to the Fox Valley and Green Bay as
early as 2004, three years before the state Department of Transportation
estimates, according to Gov. Tommy Thompson. See the WHRC news

There
is much talk about the Sauk City bridge and the Merrimac
River bridge. Are both these bridges necessary? Much depends on
whether the Badger Army Ordinance Plant will ship all the contaminated
dirt they want to.

Wisconsin Central RR Considers Reactivating
Wiouwash State Trail.
A major
portion of the Wiouwash State Trail between Oshkosh and Hortonville
could return to its original use as a corridor for freight trains
under a concept being considered by the Wisconsin Central Transportation

The BNSF and the CN Railroad merger is
official.
I just
received this from Dennis Daniels in an e-mail Sunday night.
"I
was at work tonight in the yard at Amory, MS. The yardmaster and
I were talking about the article in the Journal of Commerce when
we received a call for Kansas City notifying us that the merger
would be announced Monday morning. The new name, North
American Railway Company. I hope that they can come
up with a good paint scheme. Maybe orange and white." Click
