*Carol Strause, Monticello village clerk received this letter from Moose Speros via fax on April 14, 1999.
Dear Ms. Strause:
It has come to my attention that
the Depot Days event may have to be canceled after this year,
due to the lack of adequate rail for rides and Related events.
We
understand that there is a proposal to remove the rails and put
in a
multi-purpose trail on the corridor.
Depot Days has become a showcase for the Green County area and a great example of how important partnerships are to the tourism industry. There is undoubtedly an economic benefit to those communities participating in the event, and an educational component for visitors as well.
I hope the community can find a workable solution for all parties on the rail issue, and ensure a solid future for Depot Days.
