Ex- Illinois Central Main Line Rail looking south.
The poles here are placed on both sides of the tunnel. In the early days, rail workers would walk on top of the rail cars to get from one end of the train to another. There are some ropes hanging down to warn workers of low clearance of the tunnel ahead.
